We aren’t only a meadery and winery… we are a proud part of the Hatch Distilling Co. family. Hatch opened its doors in 2018 with locally grown spirits and amazing cocktails and welcomed us onboard in 2022 to begin the mead and wine program.
The shared passion for local agriculture and sustainable practices to produce high quality beverages with a strong sense of place made this a natural fit.
Being in Hatch also brings daily sources of inspiration and opportunities for collaboration. When we have an excess of fruit, they can turn it into brandy. We can use their spirits to make fortified wines. We get to taste each other’s products throughout the stages of fermentation and distillation to expand our palettes and learn from each other. (And we have learned A. LOT.)!
fortified wines
A fortified wine is a wine with a distilled spirit such as brandy added. This is done to stop fermentation or increase the alcohol content. Famous examples are Port, Sherry and Vermouth.
We have been having a lot of fun working together to create fortified wines using brandy from our local grapes, apple brandy, and distilled mead (which is also the base for Hatch’s delicious Gin).
