
who, what, where, when…
Mixed Meadia Wines is a line of meads, wines, and ciders at Hatch Distilling Co. in Egg Harbor WI. Led by the growing/winemaking/creative team of Allan Hyland and Emily Butteris, we joined Hatch in the summer of 2022. At Mixed Meadia Wines, we ferment, blend, bottle, and age everything on site; we share equipment, square footage, and a tasting room with Hatch.
We grow and source everything locally, proving you don’t have to travel the world to have world-class beverages. Our honey is from Northeastern Wisconsin. Our cherries and apples are born and raised in Egg Harbor. We grow most of our own grapes, and if not they are always sourced from within the WI Ledge AVA. The rest of our ingredients we either grow, forage, or source from within Wisconsin, (with a couple fun, up-cycled exceptions!). Our goal is to celebrate our unique terroir and share it with you one bottle at a time.
& why:
We are passionate about local agriculture and extending peoples’ concept of local food systems beyond their plate and into their glass. We believe in promoting lesser known wine grapes, and regions, in order to expand the wine industry and keep it sustainable, profitable, and enjoyable for more people. We are lucky to call Door County, WI, a part of the larger Northern Midwest & Great Lakes regions, home. In these under-celebrated wine-growing locales, we have the weather, climate, geology, geography, spirit of innovation, skill, and enthusiasm to be able to craft outstanding beverages to share with our communities. We might not be famous for wine yet, but sometimes the best things come from the most unexpected places.
